Date: Nov 23 2005 Major: Music - Composition/Theory (This Major's Salary over time) Mannes is an amazing place. The education is first-rate and rivals that of any conservatory in the US. It is small (to its advantage) and doesn't get the full recognition it deserves. (it is not a factory like other conservatories). It prepared me for graduate school and for a career as a composer and teacher. The workload is heavy and they push you to your limit as a musician and artist. I have the highest regard for this wonderful conservatory. The only school that could rate higher than Mannes in my opinion is the Curtis Institute, which attracts the best of the best of the best in the world because they offer a free education. Interestingly, many of the faculty at Mannes teach at Curtis. The down side: the facilities are great…but, you are in NYC! And much has changed since Mannes joined the New School University. Good luck!
