The University of Tulsa is on the rise, and it's going to show nationally here in a few years (the recent downturn of the basketball team may be making it a little easier to get in right now).

The campus here is incredibly attractive, and only seems to be getting better as time goes by. All of the buildings have a very uniform look and feel, and are all very pleasant to look at.

The engineering school is certainly top-notch, and the computer science department is doing quite well, and has a fair amount of money to spread around. I only wish some of the liberal arts departments could work on their reputations in order to help this university really stand out—everyone would gain from that. I think the history department, especially, could start offering Ph.D.s.

One of the areas the university needs to improve on is how to stand out, especially in a region where higher education is somewhat less than national quality. I think that be ramping-up in areas that are traditionally under-represented in this region, especially in Asian (East, Central, and South) Studies, languages, and history, would really help this place stand out. These types of programs are what separate "standard" universities from the truly great ones.

The students here are friendly, and many of them participate in extracirricular activities (flag football is hella-fun).

All-in-all, this university is moving up, so come and grab on for the ride!
