Warning. Crime. Lots of crime. Warning. Lots and lots of crime. Widener University is located in one of the worst areas in the U.S. I'll make this as clear as possible. The positive aspects of Widener University are limited to the education quality. All of my professors have demonstrated to be knowledgeble in their areas and succeeded at teaching me the material. Testing throughly tested knowledge of the material. Having said that, everything else about Widener makes up its negative aspects. Socially, there isn't much to do. The only parties that go on at the frat houses take place during the first couple weeks of school. I've seen some parties going on at the student center but in these parties were no students but only locals. About the locals, Chester is one of the cities with way higher than average percentage of crime. Just get a police report or look it up. During my first semester here at Widener I got robbed right on campus by one of the locals. This place is no joke, Widener is located in one of the worst areas of the country. In conclusion, Widener University has excellent academics, poor social life, and offers no safe environment whatsoever. I'll be transfering in spring. A student shouldn't have to worry about safety having many other things to worry about.
