I'm writing as a first semester first year, since this is what most of you will be if you come here. Oberlin isn't all it's cracked up to be. It's not amazingly friendly, fun, educational. It's pretty average. It's not the artistic haven people made it out to be. Don't just look at the brochures and talk to a couple people about how great it is, and come in expecting it to be amazing. It has its problems, it's in the real world and has flaws like everything else. It's not bad at all, but it's not as good as its hype suggests. Just be aware so you're not shocked and disappointed. Chose your first semester classes wisely! They will suck up most of your time.
