I really enjoy studying at NEC… it's a great place to be, and the music scene in Boston is wonderful. The faculty are mostly intelligent and helpful, and I love that they were (and still are) great performers. NEC seems to spend a lot of money on getting good faculty, and so the student body is very talented also (especially the string program… phew!).

The social life at NEC is pretty much non-existent, but the YMCA is right next door, and it's easy to meet some people who want to have a little fun (once in a while…) It's definitely not a party school though - you have to work to get in, and work harder once you're here!

The classes have been good so far, but are not as challenging as some of the classes at undergrad… however, I think for the most part they are relevant to getting a good job in music after here, which is helpful. They also have a great career center, and there are many places in Boston to get work.

Overall, I would totally recommend coming here over any other conservatory in the States right now - it's a great place to be.
