Hello,I am planning to pursue chemical engineering at georgia tech. I would like to know is the chemical engineering department at gtech good? How would you compare it with other competitive universities? Is it worth studying chemical engineering at gtech? |
Major: Chemical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
I attended Tech as an undergrad, and worked in industry for four years before returning back to Georgia Tech for my PhD. While the school is challenging, I think that it is no more difficult that senior level undergradate classwork as far as classes are concerned. There were some problems with people not getting their first choice advisors, however 70% of students get first or second choice advisors. The first year is exhauting with lots of classes and phD qualifing exams are at the beginning of your second semester, so they cram everything in pretty quick. Tech has an emphasis on obtaining mature students, don't come here if you expect to be babysat… they won't do it, and you probably won't be happy here if that is what you expect. Both as an undergrad and I am sure as a phD the hard work does pay off and is well respected externally.
