Major: Economics (This Major's Salary over time)
Kansas State will give you a good bare-bones education. There is an absence of technology in classrooms, but there are overheads and projectors in all rooms that seat over 50 students (to my knowledge.) The lecture halls are reletively small. The biggest one only fits 300 students, which would qualify as the smallest at KU. Teachers are always friendly and approachable, I am a Junior and have yet find one unwilling to meet with you outside of their office hours if inconvienient for you.

There are some interesting and fun classes that can be taken to satisfy most major's elective credits, like scuba diving, golf and (no contact) boxing.

The campus is a utilitarian school all around. The older limestone buildings look beautiful, but there is no underlying theme for all the buildings. Most are built around the prevailing style of the era they were built in. It is an eyesore to see a square white cube building built in the 50's next to a limestone building built in the 1900's to 1920's. There also is an absence of campus art. There are sculptures, but they are difficult to find, and are not exactly the most attractive.

The library was recently renovated (1996) and looks like a castle. During peak hours, it is difficult to find a computer, unless you know where to look. Sometimes it requires going to the third floor, but there is always one available, usually right at the entrance during non-peak hours.

The city-life is lacking. Manhattan is a small city, but big enough to meet most needs. The mall thrives off of KSU students, so stores cater to the students. For specialty items, a trip to Topeka is needed, and is about an hour away. There are plenty of bars in Aggieville (business district across the street from the campus.) There are many unique clubs at KSU (like the parashooting club), but not much else in the way of entertainment other then the movie theater.

The greek system is strong, but not required. There is a good mix of independents and greeks, but they usually do not socialize much between the two.
