GOOD:

VERY friendly campus and atmosphere.

VERY helpful professors, and some interesting classes. (Bioethics and Law was one of my favorites!

The campus setting is very comfortable and laid back.

BAD:

The school seems to try and seperate the Liberal Arts Section from the Music section (Crane School of Music)which fosters a *small amount of prejudice in students on both sides.

Ex> "Cranies are arrogant" (but while I hear this over and over, I rarely encounter it, and I have A LOT of friends who are "cranies".) or

Libbies have things much easier
(this is not really true. But the course set up is different. Liberal Arts students take fewer courses worth more credits each, while Music Majors take many smaller courses, tech classes, and concerts, worth 0 to 1 credits.)

Also, music majors, especially those geared towards performance, spend a lot of time practicing to improve themselves.

  • Generally though, people get over whatever prejudices they may have, it floats around more as a conversational topic and doesnt seem to have any horrific affect on the social lives of the students. The overall atmosphere is still very friendly. Being a Liberal Arts student myself, I have had no problems making friends within the music school.
  • Overall it is a good school, and a very comfortable place to start off college wether or not you end up deciding it has what you want.

The town is VERY small though, there is not a ton of stuff to do in the way of places to go out to, aside from resteraunts and a couple bars if you are of age.

Because there are two colleges in the same small town, there are plenty of people to meet. I'd still say it's a great school socially.
