::sigh:: I tried to love it here, I really, really did.

I decided to come here at the last minute instead of going to one of the top 20 universities in the country, and I've honestly regretted it every day since I've been here. People here can be very closeminded, judgmental, and sheltered. Not everyone, of course…the friends I have here are amazing, and really the only thing that keeps me here. But the school just doesn't feel "real" sometimes. The academics are okay (some classes and professors much better than others), but outside of the Catholic world, I get the feeling very few people have ever heard of this place. As for life on campus, it's terrible. I can't stand all of the rules telling me what I can and can't do while I'm here, especially regarding visitation between the girls and guys. For the age that we are, it's ridiculous, and I'm moving off campus ASAP. As for life on campus, there's virtually none. Everyone leaves campus to hang out elsewhere, especially on weekends, so don't expect any fun, spontaneous activities on campus. As for the school making an effort to do something for the students, we get nothing. No concerts (aside from a lame one at the beginning of the year featuring some obscure, not-so-great Catholic musician, maybe even an alum), no comedians, no speakers who have anything to say outside of religion or Republican politics…it's ridiculous really. The facilities here are terrible too (Egan is right out of the 60's, and no matter what they try to tell you, Cosmas and Damian is pretty average among schools today), and the (lack of) technology is laughable. Also, don't expect ANYTHING on this campus to stay open late. The computer labs are all closed by 11 (who's done by then!?), the snack place is closed by 11, the dorms close at 1 on weekdays, even the JC kicks you out by 1 am, leaving you absolutely nowhere to go. I could really go on and on, but it's not going to make anything better here. I really regret coming here, and unless you're positive you'll love it, I wouldn't recommend it. It hurts me to say that about my own school (I always imagined loving my Alma Mater), but it's true. I've had some good times here, but it just wasn't worth it. Sorry, guys.
