Ok just some advice for any student looking to come to Hofstra: don't. I found out too late that this college was rated 18th in the Princeton Review for the "college with the least happiest students". I also found out that on a scale of 60-99 quality of life rating, Hofstra was rated a 62. The only positive thing that I will say about Hofstra is the campus, on the outside, is pretty nice and well kept. If you do not bring a car to Hofstra, be prepared to walk through below zero windchills and pouring rain for about thirty minutes to get one way to class or to get something to eat. I have gone through countless umbrellas here that break because of the ridiculous wind. You will find the food is pretty bad, I once saw a bug crawl out of the seafood salad in the cafeteria. Most of the dorms really smell, they reak of old beer and wet cardboard. Its disgusting. I once went on the elevator to have to walk through a maze of spit and opened drinks and spilt nachos. Then when getting to the parking lot, I almost stepped on a pile of used condoms. This is a huge party school, (not even a good one) you will not be able to get around it if that is not your thing. Supposed "quiet floors" are loud as hell. Be prepared for drunken jerks to pull the fire alarms during blizzards, finals and mid-term weeks, etc., at like 3 or 4 or 5 in the morning. Happens on a weekly basis. The bars that are within walking distance have all shut down for you people who do like to party. Most of the faculty is pretty good here but you will find students that do not respect them at all. In the elevators you will find flyers for students who will write your papers for a price. A lot of the students drink, smoke and cheat their way out of Hofstra. Not for the student who is hard-working. All the girls care about here is their Fendi and Coach purses and their Gucci jeans, while all the guys care about is how they can get into those Gucci jeans while satisfying their own alcoholism and drug addiction. Hey its Long Island. And this is a Jewish school no matter what anyone else says. You will find really the only clubs and field trips are the ones for the Jewish and the minorities. Just do not make the same mistake that I did: do not come to HOFSTRA! Its not that good of a school you can do better!!!
