Major: Political Science (This Major's Salary over time)
The good:

The faculty members in the politics department are brilliant, friendly, and generally wonderful individuals. And obviously DC is the best place to be if you're in politics.

The bad:

  • Have you ever seen Back to the Future? Do you remember Bif? Yeah. There's the Catholic University student body, with the exception of people in the honors program.
  • The dorm complex "south side" is separated from the campus and is pretty much a slum. The bathroom doors have been kicked in a few times, the sinks leak and instead of fixing them there's a bucket they place under to catch the leaks. There's also no ventilation, so the bathrooms smell like feces all day, every day.
  • Lower-level employees (post office staff, food service) are the most unpleasant and combative human beings EVER.
  • It's in the ghetto. Not a "low-income district" or any of those liberal codewords. It's a ghetto. People get shot/stabbed and students get beaten badly on a pretty regular basis.
  • Don't let the admissions propaganda fool you. It fooled me. I'm transferring for next fall to another DC area college—but I'll never get this wasted 9 months back, or the $10k it cost me.
