Wellesley College is a great school but not for everyone. Although it portrays itself as nurturing, it is absolutely not a handholding place. Wellesley provides opportunities but does not care much for any individual student. Academic advising (or any advising, career services, tutoring services, etc.) is a weak point: the system is poorly concieved and thus virtually nonexistent; one can only get individual attention by forming a relationship with a professor. The workload is heavy and there is always reading to do. The college does not commit itself to enhancing social life or student happiness.

Wellesley does have its possitives: super-intelligent and dedicated faculty, small class-size, comfortable, very-well maintained dorms, pretty-good food, reputation.

However,I don't believe it was the best choice for me. I chose it for prestige and paid for my naivete. Another mistake I made was taking classes I was not interested in out of compulsiveness and for that elusive well-roudness. I chose my major by the process of elimination and thus am not very happy with it. I feel that the classes are over my head and that learning for me has been sacrificed to coping.

Wellesley is a good place for a strong, independent woman who has definite goals or who knows that she can figure them out. She should also not mind making an extra effort to have a social life. Someone who would prefer a more nurturing and upbeat atmosphere should look somewhere else.
