Major: Sociology (This Major's Salary over time)
Overall, I feel that Linfield offers a pretty solid education in a very helpful, approachable way. A good example of this is the Inquiry seminar taken Freshman year-put in normal terms, it is a Freshman writing course, but what makes it different is that the IQS is taught on a thought-provoking subject that is not easy to approach. It stretches your brain and allows this do happen in a very friendly environment. The Professors in my department (Sociology) are extremely helpful, approachable and available. The classes are challenging but I sometimes feel like I have gotten grades on work that are way better than they should have been. The campus is beautiful and well maintained, but McMinnville is a pretty low-key place with not a lot to do in the evenings. This means that the most fun students on campus can come up with is drinking. If you don't drink, I would seriously re-consider coming to Linfield. Don't get me wrong, there are groups that don't drink on campus, but they are few and far between and the closest cultural escape (Portland) is only accessible if you have your own car.I am transferring at the end of this year, but it isn't because Linfield is terrible. I am completely changing my path and, unfortunately, a Liberal Arts college cannot accomidate my needs.
