I hated this school. I am from the North and I felt totally out of place socially. The academics were okay, but much easier than I thought they would be. The people in my classes were not as smart or creative as I thought they would be given the high ranking of Vanderbilt. After one year I transferred to a small, alternative liberal arts college in New England were I am very happy and have, ironically, found the academics, and my peers, to be of a much higher calibur. The Vanderbilt campus is pretty and so are the people—on the outside. These were really not nice people. Because they are from the South, they smile to your face, but are really not your friends at all. I had always been pretty popular in school, with many friends, but negotiating that social world proved to be very difficult and frustrating.
