Major: Art & Design Department (This Major's Salary over time)
I am involved in the Drama Department in the University, majoring in Dramatic Media (Computer Animation). Faculty is understanding and personable. They will go out of your way to make sure you succeed in your career life. This major is available in the Arts Department as well, but I figured I would get further in life with a Drama degree vs. being a "starving artist". Some of the required coursework is a little excessive as a computer major. For example, having to complete 2 semesters working on a play in the Theatre department was time consuming along with having to complete Animation lab work at the same time.As an Out-Of-State student, I chose this university because the campus was beautiful and the technology available for my major was great. They have motion capture studios, "green screens", Illustrator, Photoshop, Maya, Lightwave available and the professors were impressive. There is a such thing as "southern charm"; however, I feel that in class, most are high-school absorbed still and you really have to go out of your way to meet people. If you're social, you'll be fine. Otherwise, try to push yourself to meet people at a large university regardless of where you go. I thought I would just be a number, but if you're involved in campus, you'll meet many people. I wouldn't trade my experience here at UGA for anything.
