At Skidmore the idea that "creative thought matters" definitely embodies the courses that are taught. As far as an interesting course of study, Skidmore has unique interdisciplinary classes. The student body, however, for a small school, can be extremely cliquey. While everyone gets along with a variety of different kinds of people, the sense of community, especially during community events can be isolating and broken into groups. The student body is very white, liberal, North East, and can seem immature and arrogant. Sometimes it can seem like everyone thinks they are better than eachother because of their "unique" approach or talent, despite the friendliness. Professors and outside resources are always available, you just need to take advantage. The dining hall is currently being redone, but the wait and apathy of the school to provide quality food is pretty terrible. Students love to complain about global issues, but it can be a struggle to get them involved. The style students take can sometimes be outlandish, but usually trendy and simple. The school is a huge smart-slacker school, and you can definitely notice students full of bull shit 90% of the time. For girls, it raises good mothers, for boys, it makes them much more arrogant and spacy than ideal. The social life can be a little lame, but you can usually find a team hosted house party that the entire school will show up at. Where normally I love going out, at Skidmore I'd generally rather watch a movie. The architecture is more practical than beautiful, but the beauty grows on you, especially as the flowers bloom and construction disappears. Saratoga shouldn't be underrated. For a small town, it has probably the most personality and charm you could ever want.
