Major: Communications (This Major's Salary over time)
Academically AU is a great place to be, especially if you're a International Service or Public Affairs major. Influential political leaders (past & present) are always speaking at AU. The School of Communications also provides great opportunities for their students. The professors in SOC are very helpful. However, the advisors need to be more available for the students, especially when it comes time to schedule classes. Unlike the academic aspect, the social life at AU isn't that great. People tend to be in cliques, and most are not that friendly. Everyone tends to be doing their own thing, so there is no community-like feel around campus. Being in the minority does not help. Even the minorities don't stick together. It's pretty much every person for themselves. If you can find a good group of real friends, consider yourself very lucky. There are occasionally good parties thrown on campus, but most are off campus. The good thing is that DC has a lot things to do in the city, so you can make your own fun. And you can visit other schools in the area. The campus is beautiful and the school provides students the proper resources to be successful. AU and DC are very expensive, so if you plan on coming you should start saving now. The bookstore is a major rip-off. Just warning you in advance.
