Major: Meteorology (This Major's Salary over time)
I'm going to comment specifically on what I do at school: Applied Meteorology. My degree program is very good, with very knowledgable professors who (with one or two minor exceptions) teach really well and are always willing to help. The facilities for Meteorology are top-notch. Tons of computers specifically geared to learning about weather, and an entire weather center with very good student tutors available for help.

I spent some time in Aerospace Engineering, but it turned out to be not for me. Several teachers in that degree are self-absorbed and do not care about the students. Many more barely speak English and can be hard to understand. These teachers are very smart individuals, but the language barrier can be very hard to get around. The Met dept. faculty is great. Always available for help, and very smart as well.

The campus has a very high ROTC presence. Probably well over 10% of the student body is a member of either Air Force ROTC, Army ROTC, or Navy ROTC. All of these programs are well known nationally, and are considered some of the very best across the country.

The rest of the campus has good facilities, some are very old though (these are scheduled to be replaced, but may take time). Food is available around the campus, with the normal non-healthy college foods and also healthier alternatives. The staff that makes the food is usually quite friendly and very helpful, I consider them the best people on campus (along with the maintenance people, who keep the grounds looking very sharp).

On to the social life: it's available. This isn't a party school, but neither is it the opposite. There are plenty of good clubs and organizations on campus, and good people to hang out with. Plenty of entertainment (be it bars, clubs, movies, the beach, etc) is around if you look for it. Sometimes it involves a little road trip to have some fun, other times you walk out your door and it's right there. It is not a dead school as you may hear, but it does require a little effort to have fun.

Overall, this is a good school. It can be very difficult and challenging if you go into certain degrees, or it can be the biggest joke of classwork in others. The facilities are good, most of the staff is excellent, and there are plenty of opportunities for fun (even if it's harder to find than at other schools).

Responses
responseThis was a very nice and well balanced review. With all the negative ones (mostly what I assume are coming from kids who wanted to go to a party school with a bunch of girls), I was starting to become concerned—I'm thinking of transferring to Embry-Riddle. Thank you for providing a good view into the meteorology dept. But you wouldn't happen to know anything about the Aviation Maintenance Science dept or Space Studies minor, would you?
