It's important to learn the information taught in the school not only because it will make a huge difference on how you do on the National and State Boards, but also it gives you the basic knowledge needed to begin in funeral service.

I'm more involved with the embalmer side of the business and knowing certain chemicals and their purpose is a huge help when dealing with the different brands you may come across. Also, many people in my class weren't real serious when it came to the cosmetics portion. I'm here to say, that is one of the most important things to learn. If the deceased looks good, younger, or no longer ill and it leaves a positive mental picture for the family, the rest of the services the family may have requested will generally flow more smoothly.

It is also one of the reasons why some families keep using a certain funeral home.
