This is actually the University of Texas Dallas, not Richardson.  This school is for, well how do I put it, emmm for nerds who really like to study.  All of the departments give a pretty big work load.  The students are smart.  There is a huge international population and it looks like half of the campus is Asian.  It is competetive and very selective with admissions.  That all being said, if you want a super-social life, UTD is not for you.  It is geared towards more geek types (not my personal stereotype) that major in math.  This also means that you are surrounded by smart people.  If you want to party look at other schools.  Social life is almost non-existent, but it is a quick drive into Dallas.
