Major: Business - Management and Administration (This Major's Salary over time)
I went to SOU for 2 years, before transferring and getting my degree at a Private School. The worst decision in my life was to attend SOU, and the best decision I made was to transfer.SOU is uber-liberal, and the liberalism detracts from the education, and permeates the teaching. I am moderately conservative, and I felt totally out place. The professors had an almost abject hatred of anything to the right of the mainstream Democratic party, and they had no interest in anything other than the typical liberal dogma. I was severely graded down (F) because I referred to a conservative thinker in a paper, but later on I learned and spouted the liberal groupthink and my grades immediately improved to "A" level work.As far as the social life, IT WAS ONE UNENDING PARTY. There was constant drinking, and drug taking within the dorms all the time (including hard core drugs, heroin being the only one I never saw). The parties come to you all the time. At the college I transferred to, you went to the parties, but if you chose not to they did not come to you. At SOU, if you didn't PARTY, then you were ridiculed, and picked at all the time. No organized social life, or activities at the school, except for intramural sports. For intramural sports I would give it high marks, very well organized, lots of sports, the stroingest part of the school.I was disgusted with the RA's. I was especially disgusted with the RA manager. Lots of talk about cleaning up the drinking and nothing happened, and when people tried to become part of the process and change the atmosphere, he went out of his way to assure they were not a part of the process. If you are a drunk, drugged out, hard core liberal, with no real desire to excel in school or life, then SOU is the place for you. If you want an intellectually challenging, dynamic educational experience, with the opportunity to feel a part of something bigger than you, enjoy a lively intelletual discussion, and prefer to drink in moderation or not all, then choose just about any other school.
