Lesley College is a very positive place to go. The teachers and students are nice, helpful and passionate. All of these qualities were what I wanted in my college. The campus is beautiful and in the city, but it is set back a little bit from the main streets. This makes Lesley feel more like a small community rather than a part of a large city. Also the school is NOT a party school, which was another must for me. So now for the negative:Lesley’s academic course load is challenging and interesting, however the grade inflation here is ridiculous. I have passed in a few papers that I knew were not terrific, yet I still received an “A”. At first, I thought that they (my teachers) were just being easy on us because they didn’t want to crush our dreams. This is not the case. I am a sophomore this year and the grade inflation continues. I expected to go to college and get a “C-“ my first semester. This is not to say that I am not a good student, I was in the top 20% of my high school, but rather I thought that a college curriculum should be challenging and that I would really have to work hard to get that “A”. I have a 4.0 at Lesley, and while I am happy that I am doing well, I don’t believe that my work deserves straight A’s. Also, I just want to point out to future Management majors, this might not be the place for you to go. While I love my professors, especially Professor McFarland, the curriculum for the (few) management majors that go here is not strong. This is especially true when comparing the college’s curriculum in education and art therapy. These two majors are what Lesley College prides itself on, hence the rest of the majors here are sorely lacking in funding and resources. However, Lesley’s management specialization in non-profit studies is something to be proud of. That is why I switched into this specialization. The other specializations, which are marketing, self-design, and human resources, are sadly not high quality.Overall, I like Lesley College. However, I feel that they MUST get a control over their grade inflation and really put more resources into other, not just education and art therapy, majors.
