I transfered to Duquesne. I was almost immediately made aware that I had made a huge mistake. As a transfer student, I recieved essentially no welcome from either faculty or students. Luckily, I already had friends there, otherwise, I may have been completely on my own through the process. People at the school are a very close-minded, staunch, uptight type. Pretty much, this is a hardcore right-wing conservative campus in every sense. Even some of my professors were very obviously biased, which I consider to be very unprofessional. Lots of busywork. I think out of the 5 classes I took my first semester, I found only one even mildly interesting. The rest were mind-numbing. The administration at this school is a nightmare, especially if you are a transfer student. Absolutely no one helped me at all, infomred me of important deadlines, or made any sort of effort to verse me in the school. The professors are so pompous and simply will not accept delineated thinking. They're all about regimentation, and regurgitation as opposed to real learning. I felt totally unstimulated and let down. Also, there's a lot of peretuation of stereotypes here. Honestly, men are macho idiots, women are braindead Britneys. I began to get the sickening feeling in my stomach after about 5 minutes on campus that everyone here had been told how to live their entire lives, and had never really created an identity of their own. Pretty sad. No one ever had anything good to say. So I left after one semester, and rave about the bad times had there, to attempt to save others from making the same mistake.
