Major: Music - Performance (This Major's Salary over time)
When I applied to CWU, their celebrated violin teacher had already decided to take sabbatical this year, and yet, no one said anything about it. They have carefully kept this information quiet because they know that violin students apply to their school specifically to study with Carrie Rehkopf. Ms. Rehkopf is too busy running the Icicle Creek Chamber Music Festival so she wanted some time off. However, because of their bizarre efforts to hide this information, I believe she isn't coming back. I think the university is deliberately using her to lure unsuspecting violin students to apply to their rinky-dink school. The law calls this "bait and switch" and it is a form of fraud, which is illegal. In addition, they led me to believe I was being considered for a graduate assistantship, then stalled me until it was too late for me to apply elsewhere. They reclassified the position to be only a faculty position and claimed that I was not qualified for any of their other assistantships, even though I have many years of teaching and performing experience. Their music dept chair has a terrible reputation in the community for not paying his bills on time and is generally considered to be a very dishonest man.
