College of Dupage caters to essentially all underachievers who live within 25 miles of the place. While it does serve as an adequate place for adults to take some specialized training in order to recieve certificates or degrees in certain trades, for the purpose of a college education it is only marginally better than taking a gap year. The only reason it is better than taking a gap year is because you have acheived some college credit, however in terms of developing and challenging the mind (the two more important factors in the college experience) the college is completely inadequate. Classes are a joke, and in no way prepare you for whatever college you transfer to (and I am in the honors program, which is supposed to be "enriched"). The only reason I might not regret going to College of Dupage is because I grew up overseas, and really was in no position to make any informed decisions regarding my future as an inhabitant of America, and I felt slightly better about this than a gap year. However, if you are intending to attend for any other reason such as finances, I strongly reccomend that you go in to debt and go to a proper college, after all, a college education is a significantly more valuable commodity than say a house, and people regularly take out 300 grand on those, so you should be willing to take out 100 grand or so to ensure a good experience with school. You are currently going through the best and most promising years of your life, do yourself a favor and experience a proper school in which you can grow. Don't go to the slothfull wasteland of unmotivated, drunken students that makes up COD.
