Grinnell is severely underrated. With an endowment of 1.5 billion, and Warren Buffet as a trustee, money is no object here. There is a new athletic center, science building, arts building, four new dorms, and a glorius new campus center, all built within the past five years. Professors are overpaid, and given incentives to get themselves published, so they're top notch and motivated. My professors for next semester have PhD's from Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, and U Chicago. This also means we have a great reputation with graduate schools. Grinnell is the place to be if you're looking to prepare for, and get into medical school or law school. If you're not looking to do graduate work, Grinnell is probably not for you. Location is a concern, but there is so much going on all the time, that you'd never realize you're surrounded by cornfields. Nerf wars, weekly themed parties, concerts (Mucca Pazza, a 27 person punk rock marching band, performed this past weekend), plays, "study breaks," lectures (we fly people in from around the world), etc. I should warn you: Grinnell's curriculum is as demanding as it gets. However, we do cut loose on the weekend. Come here expecting to work hard and play hard.If you're considering going liberal arts, Grinnell ought to be at the top of your list. No other school can match the experience you'll get here. That's something US and World Report and their silly ratings can't quantify.
