I've just started at Grinnell, about to finish my 1st semester. But from my experience so far, it seems that Grinnell can be as good or bad as you make it. There are many social activities on campus, but you have to actively seek them. Same with Academic help, support services, volunteer opportunties or organizations. The students are accepting, sweet, funny, and smart. While some are the super nerdy, intellectually debating, socially awkward type, most are just smart normal late teens who like to have a good time. One this I would have to point out that I feel is lacking on campus is health support. While the school does offer an accessible health center and walk-in counseling, they aren't equiped with dealing with anything more severe than a cold or a little home sickness. Quite a few students with mental health difficults are "forced" to take a semester off or emergency leave for their health. Do not come here if you suffer from a major mental, physical disorder. And one other thing, the band/orchestra program is lacking. If you're a serious musician, don't expect to find comporable opportunites.
