Major: Journalism (This Major's Salary over time)
The size will be the main obstacle new students must overcome. Once you get higher up in your major (junior, senior) you'll be more comfortable in your department and recognize more people. However, the drunken frat/sorority atmosphere is awful. Unless you're 21 and want to get smashed, there's little else to do and it's harder to meet people sober. Do NOT live in Coronado, even if you love to party, it's disgusting. Intro classes are large, but not too overwhelming, and though TAs teach several of the discussions, they are typically very competent. Journalism has provided a great base for newspaper reporting though the electives are probably more useful (no TA has ever taught a J-class). The University area is the best part of Tucson. Sports take over (we're great in basketball and suck in football, yet both are treated like their gods). Good luck deciding!
