i do not understand how college could hurt anyone. i do understand it will not necessarily help, but that is to a large degree dependent upon the job market opportunities and perserverance; the rest i would say is related but not limited to attitude and level of aggression i.e. how progressive are you, what will you do with forthcoming information not readily or easily accessible to you, but you know will directly affect you when it does become clearly visible to all. ignore it and wait until it is offered to you is one of the biggest mistakes you will ever make and you will live to regret it.

formal education is a great start,but acompaied with self study ontinuous reading will keep you on the leading edge. i believe young people need to be cautioned of unwritten rules of the corporate world. my dept head aned us to not take it personally if youhave been working on something for months and one day your supervisor comes by and tells you to trash it. self-study has afforded me to remain employed when the market has tightened down. READ READ READ; then practice what you have read. character building comes during life-not at any particular instance. it is an ongoing proces for a time

Perhaps more importantly paper writing center is right: students who call themselves off from viewpoints they don't agree with are promoting neither free speech nor their own intellectual growth and critical thinking skills.
