Great university if you can deal with cold weather. there are a few pros an cons to Clarkson. The main thing to keep in mind when considering going here is that Clarkson has just undergone a huge campus rennovation program. They are re-vampting the meal plan, adding a 150 k square foot addition connecting the science center to the library. Improving the campus's appearence. They are imroving the dreaded Clarkson ratio, previously 5:1, down to 3:1. Overall, the main things that discourage students from Clarkson are getting fixed. on that note a few things about life at Clarkson.
Food is ok, maily overpreiced but they have approved quite a bit in the last two years, listening to the comments placed in this

Classes are great very small, ussualy <30 accept the few Freshman "core classes". Teachers are great and you can easily meet/become friends with them. there is a great concern for you. some teachers can be a little too obsessed with there research though.
Workload is intesnse so be prepared to work hard, the good thing is that you will learn a great deal.
Great oppertuniteis to get involved with communtiy or your major through clubs orgainzation, research intern and co-op oppertunities. if your an engieneer you have to work hard but you pretty much garueented a job.

Sorrounding town is alittle boring but if your into any outdoors sport or activity, esspecially snow activites this is the place for you. The Adarondacks are beautiful and theres tons of rives, bike trains, clifts, mountians, slopes and stuff to enjoy.
Greek life is prevelent but in no way overpowering. great oppertunites to get involved in some sprt of greek life or to be your own person. great other clubs/organizations like pepband or CUOC.

Because we are in Potsdam, NY the nightlife is non existnat so though many outdoors activites are great for the day nighttime becomes the search for something to do. This basically means drinking is a big part of our culture and if your not drinking than deveolping freinships with people will occur. Either way you will make a lot of friends here and will know everyone you see on the way to class. even though there sometime is the sense of theres nothing to do here you soon realize there is actually a lot to do here you just have to search for it.
Housing is decent and improves as you become an upperclassman. Not all facilites are up to date but overall fine living conditions usually wiht ample space.

Overall great place if you can get over the cold weather and the mediocore food. The academic side of Clarkson is amazing weather your in buisness engieneering or the sciences. The culture here is great and the college expereince is defineatly expressed in a small and freindly enviorment.
