I
chose to come here out of a quick decision, but
now I regret it and wish that I had went
back to community college and took more time to look
at other schools. Before going here, I had an aunt
who said that I shouldn't go here because most places
don't offer jobs to Chicago State graduates. My aunt said
the middle school she subs at turns down all jobs
desired by Chicago State graduates. Well, I ignored what she
said and registered here anyway. Now I'm rethinking if I
should transfer to another school, and I think I will.
The demographics here are mostly Black. There are the occasional
Asians and Whites who are mostly all foreign. The architecture
of the school is really pretty. It seems like they're
really trying to bring the school up aesthetically, but beautiful
architecture doesn't help a school's rep. As soon as you
step out of campus, it's pure filth. I wouldn't walk
around this neighborhood during anytime of day. It's a “bad
neighborhood.” Mostly everyone that goes to this school is a
commuter and I don't see how the kids who live
in the dorms get out. There's nothing outside of the
campus to do, but go buy liquor from the co-naH
sto (corner store).
So, all in all, I would say
that this school is for:
- baby mommas (they offer
daycare)
- people over the age of 40 who
are already settled in a career and desire degrees just
because
- getting a few “easy” courses out of the
way to satisfy a degree at another school
- hoodlums
