Major: Political Science (This Major's Salary over time)
IC is two very different stories. The professors here are wonderful should you choose a good program. The best programs that I know of are History, Political Science, Religion and Economics. The administration, on the other hand, is absolutely horrible. They do not take into account the wants and needs of the students they have, but rather the students they want. The college is undergoing a transformation, trying to make itself into a well-reputed college. This is nice, but they are hurting present student relations in the process. The freshman class of 2005 had an incredible transfer rate (almost 50%) after one semester. A lot of this is because there really is nothing to do here on the weekends and this was a time when a lot of new policy was implemented (Partying on and around campus has all but been eliminated). People tend to leave and go home because everyone lives within 50 miles it seems. The sad truth is that there are a lot of very dumb kids at IC. It can be depressing at times knowing that finding a person that can put a proper sentence together can be quite hard to come by at IC. Nobody cares about politics or anything else for that matter. Most non-religious organizations on campus struggle to stay afloat. Also, the new policies seem to be bringing in kids that are less intelligent rather than more. Finally, some good points: because it is very easy to get good grades here, I was able to get into a very good graduate school, so I must thank IC for that. Also, they are VERY generous about giving out financial aid. If you are a really smart kid, I would not recommend coming to IC because there aren't many like you. If you are from a big city, don't come here. Jacksonville is a horrible town. If you don't mind boredom and the financial aid is enticing, coming here is a good idea. The students are nice (although dumb) and you can get into a good grad school, which we all know is most important for your future.
