I graduated in '85, so this is quite dated. At that time some of us were still living in the old barracks. It looks like most of those are gone (including Guest House? ), so the campus probably looks a lot nicer now.

The school had a LOT of do's and don't's, but those were pretty well spelled out in the pubs I read before I went. I didn't always agree with everything done/said, but I learned a lot. They have their opinions, I have mine - not a problem, that's life.

I can't say I applied myself to the coursework, but I got a good job and have done well since. There were plenty of folks getting a lot more out of the school because they applied themselves.

BTW, back in the day, the ratio was 9:1(M:F) - and I got one! 3:1 would seem like heaven (so to speak).

Dr. Graff was great. He knew he had an underachiever in me, but he was always helpful - even had me TA for him to help me review some EE classes. Yes, the ties were there, also. And the guy DOES know microprocessors, etc, although his specialty is, I believe, microwave antennas or some such.

I'll be honest, I didn't work hard enough, but I DID pass the EIT exam and get my BS, so something must have stuck.

If you want a solid education, strong Christian values, and have deep a pocket-book, LETU (LETC, back then) is a good choice. If you want to party, find somewhere else. You, and the school, will be happier.

One thing on cost - there are lots of opportunities for employment, on and off campus. But to reduce cost, I'd do 2 years at a CC first to get the basics out of the way.

Longview is sleepy compared to Berzerkely, but it's not a bad home-town type. Just remember, you'll be in Texas - buckle of the Bible belt, Cowboy territory, Jeff Foxworthy for President, and it's

The War of Northern Aggression and States Rights
Got it? Good, y'all'll do fine.

One last thing, to parents - do NOT send your kids to LETU to "straighten them out." Yes, it might work, but more likely you'll waste your money and PO your kid. Really, only serious students need apply, IMHO, not problem kids.
