Date: May 30 2007 Major: Undecided (This Major's Salary over time) I began my freshman year at another university and transfered to UIC to be in the city in my sophomore year. After one semester, the school was so terrible I transfered back. The administration was absolutely horrible…pretty much the worst you could imagine. Officials in the admissions office hung up on me at least a dozen times and were incredibly rude. Only when I contacted the Director of Admissions did I get anywhere. The school made it difficult to do anything. I had to fight for every credit to transfer and had to fight over my sophomore status. I had to fight to declare a major, and eventually I just left. When I transfered back to Michigan State, I spent twenty minutes on the phone and I was enrolled in classes and had declared a major…what a relief! UIC's administration was awful. The classes there were not decent, but they didn't blow my socks off either. Chicago is one of the greatest cities in the world and the UIC is pretty cool for an urban campus. The community there is pretty weak, though. A vast majority of the students commute, so after classes end the campus is dead. Most people were quite friendly. I made some of the best friends of my life there (I keep in touch with them still after 4 years) and it made it hard to leave. But the school itself was so terrible I couldn't stay.If you value your education and love Chicago go to Loyola or DePaul.
