Major: Natural Resources (This Major's Salary over time)
After freshman year, I transferred into TAMUG. I have been there for two years.Class size and instructor quality is very good. If you are interested in a ocean-based career, this school is a good choice, but don't expect to come here and have a great time for four years. The school's enrollment is less than 1500, and student life is terrible. There are only two varisity sports (rowing and sailing) and intramurals are very limited. The office of student life is oppressive, and penalties for minor dorm infractions are severe. The school is probably the least attractive college I have ever seen. It is located on Pelican Island, and is infested with mosquitoes. In the fall, they spray the campus every day to try to keep them out. The school is located near a sulfur loading dock, and smells bad most of the time. The student body is mostly transient. Very few actually graduate from TAMUG. Much of the school is commuters, and the campus is quiet on the weekends. Galveston can be a rough town. It does have some interesting festivals such as Lone Star Bike Rally, Mardi Gras, and Kappa weekend. Crime on Galveston is high but is supposedly dropping. I would only recommend TAMUG to serious students who do not like to party and can live in an undesireable environment. I have enjoyed my classes, but after two years am beginning to feel trapped.
