My stay at Georgia Southern was great. Southern is often portrayed as a party school, but it is in fact a great institution to pursue higher learning. All schools are party schools in my opinion (and I have first hand experienced this). Southern has a beautiful campus, great professors, and a warm and welcome presence. The University is contstantly growing with the campus being added to non-stop.

My only complaints about the school (other than the crappy radio station) really relate to the town. Statesboro is a small, conservative community located relatively in the middle of nowhere. There isn't much to do except go out and get trashed; which most students do. Statesboro isn't a college town, but a college within the town and the lack of "cultural" or "liberal activites" (outside of the university) reflect this. GSU is as good as the rest of the colleges in Georgia (despite what anyone says, they are all on the USG system), and comparable to UGA in terms of academics. I wouldn't recommend Southern to someone who is looking for a more liberal college experience outside of the university (e.g. in the surrounding community); Statesboro just doesn't offer that and won't for a very long time. However, in spite of all this, I have enjoyed my stay at Georgia Southern and would recommend it to anyone that is considering a University in Georgia.
