I grew up in a upper-middle class town about 20 min away from Massasoit. I ended up going to Massasoit by default, I had waited too long to apply to other schools. I was totally appalled not only by the thought of attending a community college, but one in a nasty city at that. , I completely shocked myself by actually liking the school. The professors were encouraging and available, and most students were friendly. The most important thing to know about the school is the two categories of people. One category consisted of non-traditional students (moms, etc.) and others who actually wanted to learn and get an education. The other category was comprised of ignorant students who acted like it was 13th grade and would act childish and rude in class (if you don't want to learn, go home).
As for social life, expect to meet new friends but as a commuter college there OBVIOUSLY aren't going to be parties on campus!
Massaoit is what you make of it. I got a great job when I graduated and I have been accepted into second tier (just below ivy league) schools to finish my education.
