My college degree definitely helped me get my first position. I do know, however, that my college education did not provide me with the experience I needed in a particular programming language that is considered to be an industry standard.

I would reccomend college students try many different things before deciding on a major. It is never too late to change majors. Get an internship! Just because you love the subject doesn't mean you will like the job. They are not the same.
