What can I say about Grove City College? Some of the best years of my life were spent on that campus. To be honest, I chose GCC for several reasons. Number one, it was only about 30 minutes from my hometown. I found that to be a big selling point. And the second reason was quite honestly for it's reputation of being strict and rather religious. I did not like the idea of having men living in the same dorm as the one I would live in. It was nice that GCC required men and women to live in completely separate buildings on opposite sides of campus. I also liked the idea of a very anti party atmosphere. I lead a very sheltered life and I didn't want to be thrown into an "ultimate party" atmosphere!

GCC was all of those things that I just described, but it was so much more. The professors are absolutely top notch. I was a French / Spanish Secondary Education Major. The profs were very supportive of me in every way. The student body is small enough (500-600 per class) that you are known by FIRST name to all of your profs. They always make themselves available to the students at all times. I also made many lifelong friends at GCC. I was a member of the Theta Alpha Pi social sorority. As a freshman, I was very against sororities and fraternities. But after several of my close friends joined Theta Alpha Pi, I was also persuaded to join. What a great decision! At GCC, sororities are solely focused on getting drunk and partying. We had fun just being friends and doing things together. Some of my fondest memories revolve around building a float with my sorority sisters for the GCC Homecoming parade!

Now please don't get me wrong. GCC definitely has its share of drinking and partying, just like any other college campus. But at GCC, students have many other alternatives to such activities. The "party culture" is not as mainstream as at some other campuses.

And another plus for you parents out there—GCC is known to be one of the least expensive in the country. My advice to you future students is to definitely consider GCC if you're interested in getting the most out of your college education. Apply as early as possible—it's becoming pretty difficult to gain admission to GCC, because its reputation as a terrific school is finally coming to light, just as it deserves!

GO WOLVERINES!!!!
