Bentley University

Bentley College seems like the right place for the right person, but that college was not the right place for me as I transfered out. I am going to give you the Pros and Cons about Bentley.

Pros:

Great coporate business school with a very good reputation in the Northeast

Faculty is very helpful and approachable

Tons of resources (library, stock trading room etc…)

Class sizes are small

Only about a 15 minute shuttle ride outside of Boston. Bentley runs a shuttle to a from Boston that leaves every hour on the weekdays and every half hour on the weekends

Cons:

Outside of the Northeast no one has heard of Bentley, or very FEW people have.

The ratio, 60/40 girls to guys. And even though its only 60/40 it feels a lot worse because the hot girls get even bitchier and the not so hot girls all the sudden think they are gods because they are in higher demand. Meanwhile the hot girls flock to our pathetic DII football team, and the rest have boyfriends.

Sports teams. While the athletic teams seem to run most of the parties on campus, there is a total lack of school spirit as no one goes to any of the football games or any of the games for that matter. Even so, our football team walks around the campus always sporting something so you know they are on the team. In addition, they have it in their heads that they are gods and should be in the NFL. First time I went to a Bentley football game I thought it was a high school game. Our basketball team was undefeated last season and did not draw big crowds until they were in the sweet sixteen in the NCAA II basketball tournament.

Social Life. BLOWS, especially if you are a guy. If you never partied in high school and you come here I guess you will think the social life is pretty great. But if you have, you will quickly notice that the only thing to do on campus is go to upperclassmen's apartments, which you will have a very hard time getting in unless you find 2 or 3 girls to bring with you. And, if you are not an athelete or a girl good luck getting into any of the athletic parties. If you somehow do manage to get in the keg is usually kicked by 11:30 and theres nothing to drink, which means all the girls leave. Then you are just left in a hot sweaty apartment with a bunch of dudes, COOL!

Frat/Sor. While the frat scene is pretty weak, its not horrible, as some people say. It is something to do, and I suggest if you are looking for a party scene and you don't play sports consider joining a frat. The frats do not have houses on campus, they are off campus and run shuttles to and from the campus to get people to the houses when they throw parties. In the beginning of the semester this is actually something to do, but once rush week ends (first week or two of the semester) and the pledging starts which means the parties are only open to people who are either in the frat/sor or are pledging the frat or sor. I can remember countless nights sitting in my dorm room with 3 or 4 of the guys on my floor, drunk and no where to go.

My advice:

If you are looking for a small school that can get you a pretty good business education, but can sacrifice the "ra ra" spirit of going to a larger university, go to Bentley.

If you are looking for more of a "college" expierence, something closer to the lines of "animal house" find somewhere else to go. Bentley is not going to be able to give you that school spirit, tons of nightlife sort of feel. At best, you'll hopefully get to an apartment party before the keg is kicked.
