I must agree with you. I actually like the name SCU but when they changed it to Regions I was a bit dissapointed. The now have changed it again, to Amridge University. I think it was a move in the right direction, considering that the name "Regions" is not very appealing. Personally, they should have just left it at Southern Christian University. It takes a long time for a school to develop credibility, and just when SCU was beginning to make a name for itself they changed it. The same will have to happen to Amridge! How long will that take? Who knows! |
One thing is for sure, though, Amridge (formerly SCU) has a good reputation. They have good programs and good professors who are willing to work with you. You have to look at the reputation of the school and what they have to offer—that is what is truly important. |

First off, I loved this school the faculty was great helpful, personable. I attended here 4 semesters. All of the sudden when I registered for Fall classes, I received an email from the President of the school stating that their was to be a name change to "not offend foreign students. Being the proud Southern Christian man that I am, I withdrew from this school.I felt it was an act of political correctness at its worst. The board of regents made this decision behind close doors without any input from any one. I found this to be an act of arrogance on the president and board of regents part. I spoke with some other student who withdrew as well and a few faculty members, all felt they were bullied to accept this name change. Today, I attend Dallas Baptist University. The new name of Southern Christian is Regions University. The name change has affected them to the point they are calling my house and trying to recruit me back because they are having record low enrollment. Hum, I wonder why? Just because a person has a PhD or Masters doesn't mean they know it all. Maybe they will wizen up and start listening to their faculty and students instead of fulfilling their propaganda. I surprised I couldn't find any negative feedback. I wonder why I haven't seen any negative feedback on this school since the name change last year?
