When looking at these reviews, you have to keep in mind that SCC is a community college, so it can't be easily compared to four-year insitutions. Students here pay only $20 per unit (as of Fall 2007), but the education is still very good. The faculty at SCC are great, in general. Many of them have Ph.D.'s from top universities, but they are incredibly down to earth. They're teaching at a community college because they care about students, not their own salary or research. The social life is admittedly much less active than you might find at a university, but SCC is working against factors most schools aren't: many of our students only take one or two classes, live far from campus, are juggling school with work and a family, or only take classes at night. Basically, if you're willing to make a little bit of effort to get involved in campus life, you'll be welcomed and you'll meet a lot of fantastic people.
