As a recent grad from Brandeis, I find it entertaining to see some random complaints about the social life.

The way it works, is that Brandeis is not an Indiana or Michigan. If you want a huge partying/drinking school, don't look here, waste your money elsewhere. The social scene revolves a great deal on the over 250+ clubs on campus. There exists a large spectrum of groups, and its really easy to get involved with activities and meet students with similar interests. These clubs hold constant events on campus, and by the time you graduate, chances are you'll be involved in multiple organizations all over the place. They range from the serious Pre-Med Group to the very unique/Brandesian "Pirate Club" (which I believe runs around looking for fake treasure…I'm serious). Besides the intense club/organization life, students are very politically and socially active in a wide range of campaigns from local community service to more international civil rights.

To me, Brandeis was what a college education should be about. Amazingly accessible faculty (who actually teach all classes and have office hours), students who actually like to learn and aren't taking classes to merely fluff their gpa/get into grad school and a student body who is extremely active and down-to earth. Go here if you want to attend a university where students are amazingly accepting, do their own thing (not caring in the least what others think…) and really want to learn for the sake of learning.

I wouldn't trade my college experience for anything. The only negative things I could say is regarding housing, but from what I've been told they recognized this and the administration is now building a brand new dorm, so that should be less of an issue.
