Major: Journalism (This Major's Salary over time)
First of all, I think it is important to say that the college experience is exactly what you make of it. OU has thousands of students and a very diverse student body. If you can't find a group of friends here, then you simply aren't trying hard enough. This is a school very rich in tradition, which is one of its most appealing qualities. However, to fully appreciate these traditions you must get involved and participate in them. If you are not the type of person that attended pep-rallies and football games in HS, then you probably won't enjoy one of the best things OU has to offer.

Having said all that, I graduated from OU's College of Journalism and Mass Communication. I can't say enough positive things about this college at OU. First of all, the new journalism facilities are state of the art. Two computer labs with Macs or PCs, whichever you prefer. This is great because usually you only find mac labs at JMC schools and that's not always compatable with home computers. There is also an abundance of study space. We were constantly doing group projects and presentations for PR so the meeting rooms provided the perfect place to meet where we could talk and coordinate without having to reserve a room in the library. The professor's offices are also located in this building so meeting with them or dropping by their office for questions was not only welcomed, but convenient and easy. Also, my JMC classes were always small. Never more than 20 students, allowing us to get to know our professor and sparking many discussions in class. The best part of being a JMC student was that I personally knew my advisor. I had the same advisor every semester and all JMC students had to be advised before enrolling. For a lot of people this was a pain, but I looked at it like this, I ALWAYS got the classes I needed and my advisor made time for me even if I waited until the day I was supposed to enroll to get advised.

What most people don't know is that OU has an excellent fine arts program. Many students attend the university for degrees in dance, music, and even acting. I found that hard to believe, but apparently it's nationally recognized and students come from places like, NY and Philadelphia to study there! I've even met a few of them so I know it's true.

OU's business school is also excellent and getting better each year. This is the biggest college at OU and the classes are huge. The lower division classes are weed-out classes. It is very hard to be any more than a number in those classes due to the overwhelming amount of people that choose some kind of business major. For this reason, those classes are very hard from what I hear.

Overall, I had an awesome experience at OU and so did all of my friends. I still go back to Norman for home games and I always attend the OU/TX game in Dallas. To me, college is just as much about the social aspect as it is about academics. I got involved. I went to Camp Crimson, I joined a sorority, I was a member of PRSSA, I went to the free movies at the Union, I shopped on campus corner, I made friends with people in my classes, I joined study groups and forced myself out of my comfort zone. As a result, I met hundreds of people, gained tons of friends, and knew every professor that shook my hand at graduation.
