Even though FMU (online)is a glorifed diploma mill, it really is a good school- I've been to big 12 schools, community colleges and private colleges and this school actually has taught me more than every other college combined. I will be transferring to a "regionally" accredited school soon and all of the classes there are the same exact ones that I took at FMU. My advisor and I are on a first name basis and she is like an old friend- not the case at any other school- and the professors there are actually accessible and will get back with you on any question within an hour. (not possible at any big schools) Other than the accreditation - FMU is actually a really good school with some very good programs- If they would only get their asses into gear and become accredited- they would be one of the best schools online. My hubby goes to a regionally accredited school here and his prof's are horrible and they don't help at all- and the administrators are condesending and obnoxious- he has a teacher that never talks to the students and never shows up to class- and this is a large state school. I think the only reason I stayed at FMU was the fact that there was not any other paralegal programs online and there is no standard for education in the paralegal world. If anything, it helped me get into a very good school that would not have accepted me without taking the courses I did- it showed them that I was ready to do the work and that I would succeed in their online program- and this is a very competitve school, in a prestigious area of Boston.I think they seriously need to become accredited in order to be taken seriously and to grandfather in the students that have graduated. It would be stupid not to.
