I am a junior with a 3.5gpa, i don't drink, and i would play sports over sitting inside any day of the week. I say that to give a basis for my campus review. FIT gives a good education but nothing more. If college is the best 4 years of your life you are going to have a horrible life after this. They don't care about students and make no effort to plan things for us. The school recently built a giant decorative fence and other things of the sort to impress parents and alumni who donate money. This was done for our 50 year anniversary. After 50 years we do not have lights on our sports fields at all, and our gym is a joke. The weight room has music on half of it and you cant play basketball in the evening as students because one of our teams(which always lose and no one goes to see) is always taking up half the gym with a single court left for everyone to fight over. Our field to play on is not maintained and the grass is seldom cut. I personally requested fire ant killer and was told there was no funding to care for the regular fields(we cant play on the sports fields). I even offered to spread the fire ant killer if the school gave me it and they said no. Finally i paid for it myself and treated the part of the field where some of us play pickup games of football. The intramural sports are rushed with the entire flag football season lasting about a month and the playoffs being one weekend with 2 games a day. The residence dorms are bad and you will find charges on your account for things wrong that were not there when you left the room. You cant fight the charges or you cant register, and over breaks take home everything of value or they might be stolen with no explanation and the school saying it had to be your fault. I don't drink but the school policy on it is absurd. Persons over 21 cannot drink in the presence of someone under 21 even if that person is not drinking. This rule is strongly enforced as is everything else that FIT can get money from. The security is a joke, and all they do is parking fines and making sure no one is having an unregistered party, while there isn't enough parking and they continue to sell parking tags. 50% of students who come here don't stay so although not having lights on our sports fields sounds trivial just understand that its the policy FIT has on everything for its students.
