This school is so boring. There is absolutly NOTHING to do on weekends. Freshmen can have theire cars, which in a way is awesome, but in a way it sucks because everyone leaves on weekends! The parking lot is empty on weekends. If you walk outside on a Friday afternoon you will see so many people walking to their cars with their bags to go home.EVERYONE is from NJ, so thats another reason it is such a suitecase school. Everone says all NJ school are suitecase schools, but Ramapo is so small that if a lot of kids go home, it becomes a ghost town. Which is exactly what it is every single weekend. Because almost everyone is from Jersey, It really is not diverse. It is full of Bergen County kids. If you live in central or south Jersey, your considered "very far". I just wish there were kids from other states or even countries. It would make it a lot more diverse and interesting to meet people. The parties are a joke and they usually get busted by security within a few hours. And even if your asleep in a room upstairs in an apartment, you can bet security will find you and STILL write you up! And even if you have not touched a drink you will still get an alcohol violation for being there. The school is so small that word of a party spreads to everyone, even security. So they know where the parties are, so chances are they will come and break it up. And everytime you get written up you have to pay more and more, up to $500. AND if you want to be a teacher, you better be extra careful, because if you get an alcohol violation your employer will find out through ramapo, and it may hurt your chances of getting a job. The only time of the week there MAY be a good party is Thursday night, but it usually gets busted so its not even worth going to. And the parties aren't even that good. The only good parties are off campus frat parties. That's right you have to take a cab or drive about 15 minutes to go to a decent college party. And those parties are way too over-crowded, because everyone at the school wants to go. It sucks that there are no frat or sorority houses on campus, it makes ramapo even more boring.I actually have seen kids in high school party a lot more than the kids do at ramapo. Not that many kids drink, which makes it hard to find a party. College is supposed to be crazy and the best times of your life, I hope this is not the best time of my life. If it is, I am going to have a very boring life. I definitly want to transfer to a school that is more fun, has a football team, not such strict security, and a better, more recognized academic reputation. The town of Mahwah is super boring also. Theres nothing to do, no bars or anything. There are few bars in Wayne or Suffern, NY which are both about 15 minutes away. But it's annoying to have to leave your college campus to have a good time. Some people may say its so close to NY which is great, but you have to take bus ride which is about 30 minutes i think. It's so much better to go to a school that actually has fun things to do and parties ON CAMPUS.So if partying isn't really your thing, then ramapo is an okay school. The kids here are mildly smart. It's true, it isn't easy to get in to Ramapo, but it really is not that difficult either. I really don't feel challenged at all, and I wish I went to an academically better school. There is also no football team, which really sucks. While other kids are at their school's football game on a saturday, ramapo kids are in their hometown hanging out with their high school friends. It sucks.I'm sorry if I scared students who have already decided to go here, but just beware of security. Try not to stay at a party for more than an hour, or else you risk the chance of getting busted. If you are on the college search, and you want a fun, school-spirited, academically challenging, diverse school DO NOT COME TO RAMAPO. if you want to go home every weekend and fly through college not doing too much work (or too much of anything for that matter), then go to ramapo. I would definitely, definitely NOT reccomend it.
