Major: Math (This Major's Salary over time)
Being a first year student at Elmhurst College, I am willing to say I look forward to my remaining years at this institution. I make this statement as a double major in secondary education and mathematics, along with a minor in music business, which means I still have a lot of time left at this place :)

The campus environment in combination with the student body atmosphere come together to provide a great setting a college student like myself could not have asked for a better one at any other college or university. Not many take this into account when looking at colleges, but the campus is beautiful and very well-kept. The scenery only add to the other wonderful aspects of Elmhurst College which only further make you want to be here.

The curriculum, particularly the mathematics field, has been both enriching and challenging, all the while still being manageable and never overwhelming. I feel I have already learned so much about my major and anticipate the many more bits and pieces of information coming my way. Furthermore, Elmhurst College offers many courses to give students different perspectives in this field, as I'm sure they do in every other major students intend to follow.

The professors are always willing to give out their email addresses, cell phone numbers, and even their home phone numbers (during reasonable hours of course) to make themselves readily available for any problems you may have. I know I have made use of this availability numerous times and have a great relationship with my professor. I truly feel that my professors understand exactly how I am doing in their classes and always try to push me to excel at my greatest potential.

The greatest experience I have had since being at Elmhurst College would have to be the extracurricular activities. Socially, I believe this college operates well in providing opportunities to meet new, friendly, and interesting people not just in the classroom, but in other outside activities. Since this school year has started, I have taken part in the theater department and also have been initiated into a fraternity. While participating in such activities, I have meet so many different people from different backgrounds and have made friendships I do not believe I could have established without the extracurriculars presented at Elmhurst College. Also, the process of getting involved into these organizations were not difficult at all. I gathered information one day, and the next day I was participating. I really feel that the students at Elmhurst College are all very warm and welcoming individuals. My theater experience has introduced me to a whole new level of theatrical performance I never felt during high school and involving myself with Greek Life and a fraternity has really opened me up more and got me involved within the community. Just for the record, I want to say I plan on joining so many more activities as I go each day appreciating the campus more and more.

Understandingly, money is always an issue when looking at colleges and Elmhurst by no means is a low amount tuition; however, Elmhurst College offers many different forms of financial aid that make the payment very manageable for almost every situation. In most cases, the college offers their students grants and scholarships which don't require any money to be paid back as loans work. And by the resources which the college offers (i.e. The Writing Center), along with the great settings like the Frick Center, you are getting your money's worth.

Again, another pleasant aspect of Elmhurst College is its location. Being situated in a suburban neighborhood, it is very manageable for many students, including myself, to commute to school and avoid paying the dollars needed to pay for room and board. Also, if you are not a fan of the cafeteria food, there are so many restaurants and other eateries no farther than 3 blocks away in Downtown Elmhurst.

Elmhurst College is an amazing school and I do not regret for a second choosing to attend this small community institution over a large size university such as U of I or ISU.
