Being an out of state student I was completely let down. Orientation and visits were great but once the first semester rolled around it was a completely diffrent story. The classes and teachers are def. above average, but its life outside of the classroom that sucks. If your not in a frat then you will have NOTHING. The campus revolves around the Greek Life. Only house party I've been to was at my dorm. Its even tougher being out of state because most students are from alabama. Most have their same group of friends from high school with them. And then the town is empty when every one drives home on away weekends and in the spring semester, So im stuck on campus with nothing to do because i cant drive 13 hours home. Off campus theres nothing but one movie theatre and a bunch of resturants, thats it. You will have the hardest time finding something to do on nights and weekends unless you kiss ass to a brother in a frat so he'll let u in. Its just a joke for a guy to get into a frat around here. If you bring your car youll never find a parking space and when you do ur tires will either get slashed or ur shit will get stollen. Then if ur lucky enough to find a spot and ur stuff doesnt get messed with ull most likely find a parking ticket, for instance no parking at the rec till after 5. Food sucks too, forced to buy the meal plan and then I have to spend extra money buying food off campus cause im tired of feeling like shit whenever i eat at lakeside. Its just a shame such a nice, beautiful school with great academics is ruined by all of this crap.
