St. Blow's, as i have come to call it, is a poor excuse for higher learning. They aspire to become the "preeminent Catholic comprehensive university in the Northeast" according to the President, Timothy Lannon. Hello? What about Georgetown, BC, Holy Cross and a number of other fine Catholic institutions all across the Northeast. This school's lofty ambitions will no doubt fall short. Student presence on the weekends is invisible. There is no sense of camaraderie. School spirit? I have more support for my highschool than I do for this "University." The saddest part about this school is the fact that it has so much potential. Unfortunately, the administration does everything at 80% capacity. They are unable to put more money into the school because they give out scholarships to anyone who has above a 3.0 GPA in order to attract more students. Not to mention that the surrounding area is not conducive to enjoying ones self off campus. Drive up and down city avenue and you will see the wide array of gas stations, liquor stores, 7-11's and a plethora of other useless shops. Want a meal at a restaurant other than TGIF's or Chili's? Enjoy driving 15 minutes to the main line where you'll find a number of high quality restaurants. As far as academics are concerned at SGayU, I received a better education in highschool. The school is unable to provide all of its students with high-quality professors and in turn, the education received is lackluster at best. I could not be happier that my time here at this school is quickly coming to an end. And as for the students who experienced the "best four years of their lives" here, well, words cannot describe how sorry I am.
